"As a colorist, I have always been and still am a fauve on the loose" - C. Camoin.
A painter revealed by the fauve movement, Charles Camoin used color to retranscribe the motif and its luminous variations.
He left his Montmartre studio in 1921 and settled permanently in Saint-Tropez, demonstrating his affection for this region, which he painted and overpainted almost obsessively, in a spontaneous, richly colored style.
